Clee: OK Robbie you're finished. Go on over there and have a seat. Your momma will be back soon to pick you up....
...Good timing Juan. Come on, you're up next.
Tre': Sup Mr. Clee, Everybody.
Broughters: Hello young man.
Tre': He was here before me Mr. Clee
Clee: Who Mr. Broughters? No he's just hangin' out with us today.
Broughters: How old are you young man?
Tre': 17, I'll be 18 next month
Broughters: I hope you plan to register and vote in the upcoming presidential election.
Tre': Uhhh ... Yes sir.
Broughters: Yea that first time can be pretty confusing but if you really watch what's happenin' around you then things get simpler. The bottom line is that you must follow the money trail. See America rules the world, we're "the superpower". And in America, its always about the Dollar. Ain't that right Clee?
Clee: That's right Mr. Broughters
Broughters: When you looks at things through dollar signs, then all matters of craziness start to make sense. For instance, why has the OJ trial been on TV for almost two years. Hardly anybody cares but they still show it on the TV. Well son, the sense of it is that its an election year and the OJ trial picks at the boil of racism. As a matter of fact, most of your top stories these days are shown with emphasis on racism. You know, immigration restrictions, black killin' white, white burning black churches, job cutbacks and affirmative action and so on and so on. See the racism always gets America's full attention. So while were looking at that, what do you suppose is going on behind our backs?
Tre': I don't know.
Clee: Are they doggin' us Mr. Broughters?
Broughters: Sho you right. Every CEO, and other persons of means is blazing a trail through the "global economy". Meanwhile we the populous is distracted by racial matters. You see boys its like my daddy used to say, "there's nothin' new under the sun." The rich plantation owners used to pull these same tricks during slavery times. They convinced poor and uneducated whites that they was better than the slaves and in this way the whites helped the plantation owners police his prize slaves by means of the KKK and Jim Crow like laws. The poor whites did their job well and for free. The slaves, scared to death, stayed on the plantation under the "safety and care" of ole massa while the plantation owner made his fortune. For the slaves and poor whites racial matters meant racism. For the plantation owner, racial matters meant profitable economics. Things ain't changed.
Clee: Well Mr. Broughters, who do you suggest that Juan vote for?
Broughters: Dole is good but Clinton is already back in. No brainer as you young folks say.
Clee: You think Clinton has done that well in his first term.
Broughters: Who cares. Boy ain't you been listenin' to what I been saying? MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. With Clinton, a Democrat in office, the racial issues still exist. You know the perception is that the Democrats are giving the country's resources away to the blacks and poor. That is the blacks and blacks. So with Democrats in office the distraction of racism is prominent. Republicans on the other hand give the perception of making those blacks and poor work for their supper. Pull themselves up by their bootstraps. No racial distraction no money.
Clee: Yea the two parties have their differences.
Broughters: May be. But their differences exist only as a means to gain access to political office, power and money.
Clee: What about the Colin Powell as VP wild card?
Broughters: Well let me see. Where should I begin...
Clee: (Whispering to Tre') You better get out of here while you can. This sounds like it might take a while.
